May 24th 2 Thes 3:3- But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
While God does protect his children to great extent ,Today’s verse talks about opposition, due to furtherance of the Gospel.
It should not be a surprise for us as Paul states in a diff book:
Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. – 1 Pet 4:12
As Christians we will face trials and should not be a surprising to us, especially when we share the Gospel.
We can learn a few things from todays verses (1-5).
Prayer: Paul is asking for prayer so that God may use him for the furtherance of His Gospel. All work of God must be done with dependence on God and not in unison.
Confidence: In the midst of opposition and trial, he had confidence in God. Paul would have walked with Almighty many years and must have had full confidence when he is met with opposition.
Encouragement: even though facing trials, he is encouraging others, that God has the best plan for them (Rom 8:28) & will protect them.
So let us learn these few qualities from Paul: Prayer, confidence & encouragement to others, and as much as possible share the good news with those who do not know it.
