The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Lost and Found

There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10

This verse is a beautiful picture of how God reacts when anyone repents and is saved. Jesus shares a parable of a woman who loses a coin out of ten silver coins she owns.  The total worth was not much but it was all she had.  So, she spent time lighting a lamp and searching for it.  When she found it, she rejoiced greatly by inviting her friends to celebrate with her. Jesus mentions one more parable in which man loses one of his sheep out of 100 sheep he owns. Leaving behind the 99, he searches for that one sheep and when he finds it, he greatly rejoices.

In both parables, we find the same basic statement telling us what this means in our verse. When we truly gave our lives to Christ, there was a great celebration in heaven.  Just as the man and the woman who found their possessions, there is a great celebration in heaven over a lost soul that has been found. When our soul was saved by accepting Jesus Christ as our personal savior, God rejoiced greatly because a soul that He loves came to salvation and now will live forever with Him.  This is how much we mean to God.
