My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of my lips. Psalms 89:34
Here in this chapter, the Psalmist is singing praises to God for His faithfulness. This Psalm is also God’s promise to Israel concerning the Messiah. He remembers God's faithfulness to David because God made a covenant with David promising that He would establish David's throne forever. We find that promise fulfilled by the birth of Jesus Christ of the house of David. God fulfilled his promise by giving us a savior and a redeemer.
God will not change His mind and He will not change what he had spoken to us through His word. He has not changed His mind about wanting us as His children forever and ever. He loves us conditionally with His agape love. As the word says in 2 Corinthians 1:20, all promises made by God, no matter how many they are, every promise is Yes in Christ. As God promised and kept His covenant by giving us Jesus Christ, let us also be faithful and live our lives pleasing to God.
