Where can I go from your Spirit? or where can I flee from your presence? Psalms 139:7
In this psalm David marvels at God’s amazing characteristics. God knows everything about David and all of David’s thoughts and his conduct. The Lord knows what David will say even before David says it. There is no place David can go that God is not already present. One of our God’s countless attributes is His omnipresence. Yes, our God is everywhere at the same time. He is the sovereign God of the universe. Our God is ever present. There is no place where He is not.
For us as believers, the omnipresence of God is a comfort. This is the truth, God is everywhere, and He will be with us no matter what, but it is up to us to realize that He is with us, and to act like He is with us. In the same way, when we walk through valleys of life, God is always there with us. He will be with us when everyone else has deserted us. Even through the valley of the shadow of death – He will be with us. This promise means we do not have to fear what anyone can do to us.
