1 Thessalonians 4:3 “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;”
We often avoid talking about this subject. But this is as important topic as all others. It is from the creation that we are tempted to give up on our desires rather putting ourselves under His (our creator’s) will, purpose, and plan for our existence. We all know that without being Holy we cannot be in His presence to enjoy all the fullness He has desired from our creation. Even if we fall short He extended His own blood to cleanse us.
Sexual orientation and immorality are one of the things that we must need to understand at the core.
He sets this emotion with saintly purpose, His desire is for us to enjoy with purpose not just for our momentary satisfaction but to bring long-lasting happiness and joy in our life and His plan of multiplication.
The will of God – Literally “a thing willed” by God, His will being best ascertained in His Word, the only place that gives His will in absolute terms! There are many areas where we do not know the explicit will of God but when it comes to this subject (sexual behavior) we know His will clearly and His purpose is well defined. To please God is to do things according to His will is to be continually becoming Holy in this area.
As a Christians/Believers we daily have a choice to yield ourselves to God’s sovereign will rather asserting our own independent will.
We must not attempt to live the Christian life without the Bible (the only true words of God).
We should be grateful that God has given us (believers) His absolutes in this vital area of sexual conduct so we can make clear, decisive decisions that are pleasing to our Father, our creator.
So let’s remind ourselves that we are not perfect, but with Him, we are redeemed and strengthened to overcome one of our most common challenges of everyday life. Let’s put His words in our minds to set our path straight before we step into this dark world of temptations. Let’s take Him with us every place we go and claim our victory over our thoughts and desires, and fulfill His purpose of this beautiful gift we have received through Him.
Our hearts can not have a desire our brain/mind doesn’t know of. So let’s fill our minds with His words, so all our heart desires become Holy.
Promise: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Prayer: Dear Lord Heavenly Father mighty wonderful God. Lord, thank You for Paul’s important teaching on positional and ongoing, practical sanctification and the need to be holy and pure in thought, word, deed, and motive. Keep me from every sort of ungodly activity and any sexual immorality. I pray that I may dedicate my life to Your service and present my body as a living sacrifice to You – holy and acceptable in Your service. Thank You that I am already positionally sanctified, by faith in the sacrificial work of Christ on the Cross, and I pray for my ongoing, practical sanctification. Transform me, day by day, into the image and likeness of Your Holy One. In Jesus’s Holy Name, I pray Amen.
Have a blessed day!
