For to be carnally minded is death,
But to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6)
There are some powerful words in today’s verse – Death, Life, and Peace.
If we observe, Paul is not saying to be carnally minded; it brings death. Instead, he is saying. It is death now. Death here in Rom 8:6 is profound; Paul here refers to Spiritual death. A death that occurs when we move away from the life of God (Eph 4:18). A death that occurs when we set our minds on the things of the flesh by indulging in selfish, sinful human wants and desires.
On the contrary, Life and Peace. Jesus Says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…”. if we set our minds on the things of the Spirit, God promises us all life and peace (John 14:27). When everything around us is chaos and in disarray. If we are spiritually minded, we will be at peace because we are filled, influenced, controlled, guided, and led by the Holy Spirit.
My dear, the battleground is our mindset. There are two destinations here, carnally minded – destination death or spiritually minded – destination life and peace. We all need to choose one or the other. Choose wisely.
