The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
Psalm 19:7
For Psalm 19, the title in my bible is “The Perfect Revelation of the LORD.”
David, from verse1 through verse 6, sings how God has revealed himself to this world through creation. Starting verse 7, David shifts gears and goes even more profound and sings about God’s revelation through THE WORD (law of the Lord).
David says
– The WORD is perfect, which means It is wise, flawless, true, comprehensive, and complete, Which has the power to convert, refresh, and restore the soul.
– The testimony of the Lord is sure meaning; the Word of God is God’s testimony. It is absolutely holy, trustworthy, immovable, reliable, and unwavering.
– Making wise the simple meaning, The Word of God shines the Light so that even simple people can see the meaning (Ps 119:130).
Every believer’s #1 goal on this earthly journey is to live a life that glorifies God. For that to happen in our lives, like David, we also need to delight in God’s word and meditate on it day and night. Amen.
