The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10
In ancient times the strong tower was the central place in the city; people ran to it when they faced any danger (see Judges 9:51). Strong towers were guarded and fortified. When you climb on the strong tower, you can get a clear picture of what’s happening around you. A strong tower represents protection and provision.
As believers, when life’s storms, disappointments, or dangers hit us, we can also run to a strong tower for protection and provision. It is The name of the LORD. It is the greatest weapon in our arsenal. LORD is not just a name we call. IT IS HIS CHARACTER. IT IS WHO HE IS. The LORD is our rock, fortress, deliverer, strength, shield, the horn of our salvation, our stronghold (see Psalm 18:2).
Solomon says, “Run,” not walk; instead, run. There is a sense of urgency here. Days are getting tougher and tougher; the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion to devour the believers. My dear, run to the strong tower by praying, worshipping, meditating on God’s word day and night, and be safe.
Amen.
