Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin;
and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:15
Illegitimate desire is a dangerous one. It is more powerful than Satan. Satan couldn’t resist the desire, Sinned, which resulted in spiritual death, and ultimately fell like lightning from heaven.
James understood it pretty well and explained to us how the progression of sin occurs and the result of sin through today’s verse. Sin starts with Illegitimate desire and ends in spiritual death.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:27, “…I discipline my body and bring it into subjection…”
As believers, Like Paul, we need to discipline our bodies by practicing self-control through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “…when you are tempted, He (God) will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
- James gives us that way out in verse 21, “…the word…”
- Jude gives us that way out in Jude 1:20-21, “…prayer…”
My dear, May we accept God’s way out and discipline our bodies to endure Illegitimate desires as long as we live on this earth and receive the crown of life that awaits us (See James 1:12).
Satan couldn’t resist the Illegitimate desire, and he fell…We need to Take heed lest we fall too!!!
