For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isa 9:6
Birth announcements are common and a wonderful way to share the joy with relatives and friends. Usually, birth announcements are made after the birth of a child. Also, during the announcement, no one can tell what that child is going to become (like an engineer, doctor, lawyer, etc.)
But one birth announcement happened seven hundred years before the Child was born to share hope and joy with the entire world. Not just the birth announcement, but the announcement contains what the Child will become. This birth announcement is about Jesus, whose name will be “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.”
“Wonderful, Counselor” indicates that Jesus will have all wisdom (col 2:3), and it is good news for the people who needs guidance. “Mighty God” indicates that He will be all-powerful, and it is good news for people who are weak. “Everlasting Father” indicates that Jesus will be forever, and it is good news that He will take care of His people forever. “Prince of Peace” indicates that He will bring peace to the world, and it is good news for the people who lack peace with God and each other.
