The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Create in me a clean heart

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

Every year two major smartphone companies release their “new” phones, one in September and another in February. Most of us try to discard the old one and get a new one. During this time, it’s a festive season for smartphone lovers. Not just the phone, but we try to change several items like cars, homes, dresses, etc. We try to buy or change the stuff to get a fresh feeling.

King David also asked to give a new thing. However, he was not asking for new clothes, buildings, or ornaments but to create a clean heart and give a new and right spirit within him. When Nathan, the prophet, came to him after he made a mistake with Bathsheba, David realized his mistake. Immediately he asked God, “*Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.*” (Psalm 51:7)

We are not better than King David. We have been committing mistakes regularly. More than a phone, new clothes, ornaments, etc., let us set right and ask God to “*create a clean heart and to give a new and right spirit within us.*”
