The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. Nah. 1:7
Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian empire, and they invaded Israel. Even though the people of Nineveh were enemies of Israel, God still intended to save them. God sent Jonah to proclaim the message of God, they received the message, and they repented. However, they returned to idolatry, violence, and arrogance after a century. God did not let His children suffer under their cruel ruling anymore. Nineveh was proud of its wall standing about 100 feet high and its moat 150 feet wide and 60 feet deep. Nahum established the fact that God alone is a stronghold, and eventually, He destroyed the Assyrian empire.
Are you losing the battle and going through challenges and discouragement? Keep God as your stronghold (strong defense). He knows those who trust in Him. God heard the cry of the Israelites (Exo. 3:9) when they were in Egypt. He did not allow plagues to touch them but destroyed the enemy completely. Jesus Christ is the good shepherd; He knows His sheep, and we are His sheep. No one touches and takes the sheep from Him. As He is our very present help and stronghold in days of trouble, let us continue to trust Him as he always knows those who trust Him and protect them from evil and danger.
