The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

For sin…

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Rom. 6:14

The Bible teaches that we are all born sinners. When a person commits sin, the sin puts the person in to prison. The bars of the prison are guilt, shame, deception, and fear. When a sinner is in prison, the tenure must be completed to be released. Unfortunately, the penalty is eternal death. Someone has to pay the penalty to set the sinner free. Then Christ came and became our substitute, and He died and took the penalty. Now the sinner is set free.

The work of the law is to expose sin. It is like a mirror that tells where we are missing the mark. But the grace is different, which is unmerited favor. God has set the law, and we must abide by it. Then grace came, which enabled a sinner to fulfill the law’s righteous requirements. The important question Paul brought up here is – when Jesus died and brought you out of prison and gave you grace, why are you going back to prison? Once the penalty is paid, why do you live again under bondage?

What is the sin that is taking us back to prison again? Ask God to search your heart. Once you identify it, seek our Savior’s help and pray. Remember that sin shall not have dominion over you as Christ’s power is with you. For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world.
