The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Stand fast

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1

Louis was a young soldier; he was summoned to fight for France during First World War. After a few days in the battle, he took a leave and came home. He overstayed his leave, fearing punishment and disgrace, he plans to desert. Louis asked his mom to lock him up in the attic, and she did exactly what Louis asked and fed him for 21 years. Louis’s mom died, and now he has no choice but to come out. He came out from the attic, went straight to a police station, explained everything, and surrendered. Police listened to him and said, Louis, there is a law of amnesty passed for deserters. Deserters are no longer punished; they are free. Louis has freedom all this while but does not know he has it.

Sadly, it is true with some of us; instead of standing fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, we often entangle ourselves with a yoke of bondage. Bondage of anxiety, fear, worry, stress, death, comparison, rituals…etc.

Jesus Christ paid the ultimate penalty so that you and I could enjoy freedom. Making us free not only means our sins are forgiven but also that we can walk with Jesus and commune with Jesus freely and confidently.

My Dear, Today’s devotion is a great reminder; whatever bondages are troubling you today, Submit them to Jesus and live life free. Jesus will take care of it while you and I enjoy the freedom he blessed us with.

Amen.
