The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

be of good cheer!!!

hese things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

These are the words of Jesus to his beloved disciples 24hrs before his crucifixion. In Verse 16, Jesus says to His disciples. “A little while, and you will not see Me….” Hearing that, the disciples are stressed and worried. Jesus encourages the worried disciples with a divine promise, our today’s verse.

Jesus says, “be of good cheer (tharseō).” This word is pretty special; it was mentioned only eight times in the bible and every time by Jesus only.

In Matthew 9, Jesus says to a Paralytic man, be of good cheer… The paralytic man rises.

In Mark 10, Jesus says to a Blind Bartimaeus, be of good cheer… he receives sight.

In Acts 23, Jesus stands next to Paul and says, be of good cheer… Paul was reassured of his calling.

My Dear, are you stressed? Are you worried? Through today’s verse, Jesus is saying, “be of good cheer” (tharseō). Do not worry about anything; rest in our Lord’s promise and have a peaceful day. Amen.
