The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Be anger, and do not sin!

Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Ps. 4:4

We all get angry at one time or the other. When we get angry, what should we do? David is giving a few instructions here, which will be useful even in the present time.

Be anger, and do not sin – being angry is not a sin, but that emotion must be controlled, and it should not be converted to sin. Some people, in anger, may commit murder too. God takes this very seriously. Paul also referred to this verse in Eph 4:26-27 and said, “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” Let us not give the opportunity to the devil by being angry.

Meditate within your heart on your bed – in the night, when we are in bed, we turn off the light and make our environment calm and peaceful. This is the best time to search our hearts and confess the sins of the day. This also helps us to sleep well.

be still – be still and see the salvation of God. This is the technique of Moses that needs to be applied in our life. The other way to read “be still” is by trusting God completely.

May God put these words in our hearts and remind us what to do when we are in anger.
