So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom. 10:17
Faith is not something we can achieve on our own. But it can only be obtained through hearing, and the specific message that must be heard is the word of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The word of God is about Jesus Christ, who became man, lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death for our sins, and rose again to glory so that we could have eternal life.
The act of hearing is receiving Jesus into our hearts and knowing that faith is a gift from God through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We must say certainly and boldly that “God gives us faith, through which our sins are forgiven.” Let Jesus be the object of our faith today and every day, and may we share the good news of Christ so everyone in this world will be raised to life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
