Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back,My soul has no pleasure in him.” Heb 10:38
The writer of Hebrews quotes the word of Habakkuk 2:4, “The just shall live by faith” also repeated three times in New Testament by Paul in book of Romans and Galatians. In this passage Heb 10:35-39 verses reminds people to draw on their experience to gain strength to endure for the future.
During those times Christians were discouraged and in danger of casting away their confidence in Jesus, and relapsing into an old covenant relationship with God. Verse 35 says “Do not cast away your confidence.” The toughest and most discouraging trails are when we are called to obey God’s will when the fulfillment of His promise seems so far away. This is when we need endurance. Faithfulness during the time when the promise seems unfulfilled is the measure of your obedience and spiritual maturity.
Drawing back in the Christian life is sometimes due to disappointment, at other times to depression, at still others to discouragement. Our problems become too heavy to carry and problems might weigh us down to back to Old life. But word of God says, those who are heavy laden come unto me, I will give you rest. So today, we take time whatever that is weighing us down let’s take it to God in prayer the One who sustains in everything we are doing.
