Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so. – Proverbs 3:27
In the well known parable of the Good Samaritan recorded in Luke 10:27-37, a man was beaten by robbers and left to die, on his journey to Jericho. A Jewish priest and a religious Levite both saw this man who needed help, but they walked right past him, without helping. But, a Samaritan man had compassion on him, bandaged his wounds and helped the man who was in need.
Many times we behave like the Priest and the Levite, who were religiously right, but failed to show love in action to those who are in need. Through today’s verse we are being exhorted not to withhold good from those to whom it is due. In other words, from those who are in need and whom God places in our circle of influence. We are called to reflect the Light of Jesus in this dark world and to be salt of the earth!
May we be a Shining Light to the nations
A Shining Light to The peoples of the earth
Till the whole world sees the Glory of Your Name
May Your Pure Light shine through Us
