Zechariah is one of three post-exilic prophets. He ministered to a small remnant of Jews, who returned to Judah to rebuild the temple and their nation. He encouraged people to finish rebuilding the temple but his message went far beyond those physical walls. Zechariah told of the Messiah, the One whom God would send to rescue His people and reign over all the earth. Zechariah proclaimed a stirring message of hope to these ex-captives and exiles–their King was coming!
Jesus is the Messiah, the promised great deliverer of Israel. The Day is coming when the Lord Jesus Christ will return as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. In that day the earth will be filled with His glory, as the waters cover the sea and He will reign over all the earth. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. He is the One, eternal, infinite, almighty, incomparable, omniscient, all-powerful, triune God and in that day, the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of our God and of our Christ and He shall reign forever and ever.
