Jul 23rd, 2023:
Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! 1 Chr. 16:11
David is in a celebratory parade bringing in the Arc of the covenant into Jerusalem. He composes a psalm of thanksgiving in which he makes this timeless statement. While they were bringing the Arc of God, he exhorts the people to seek God continually.
Seeking God is a difficult thing to do as it involves a sacrifice of our time in a busy and overwhelming world. But God promises that he is not far from those that seek him. He says, seek and ye shall find! We can understand the will of God and his mind when we seek him. We will come to know his power and might when we search for his strength. And we obtain his favor when we seek his face diligently.
Just like David, let us celebrate coming into the presence of the Lord this Sunday. Let us seek his righteousness, glory, majesty, and beauty. Laying aside the burdens of this week, let us come into his house with thanksgiving and seek his face. We shall find his favor and his might today! The Lord may show himself to us!
