Jul 31st, 2023:
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Ps. 34:8
This verse promises us to show the Lord’s goodness and experience his blessings. But it asks us to trust and experience him. This is a conditional promise that God gives us. There are many experiences recorded in the Bible of God’s goodness. We have heard the testimonies of various people in our lives about it. Maybe we ourselves in the past have tasted it, but it might have been so long that we don’t really remember how it tastes.
The first step the verse tells us is to trust the Lord. Other bible translations call it ‘running to him’. We must run to the Lord’s presence, committing all our decisions, plans, and goals to him; or casting our anxieties, worries, and helpless situations on him. In both times of our need and times of our abundance, we can put our hope and confidence in him. More than making our own plans or confiding in the ones made by others, we can look up to God.
Sometimes, we don’t see the light even after obeying God’s voice. We still need to trust in him and follow him where he leads us. We can lean on the promises of God and stay on him. Because we know that all the things he works in and around us work together for our good. God is good. He is good all the time. Not just two years ago. Not when you were young. Not two months ago. He is good now. All the time. In this time and ever. At all times. He is good to everyone. And he offers us the taste of his goodness. So that we may be filled with his goodness and blessings.
