And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation. Luke 1:50
The Word of God emphasizes the key principle of being a Christian is having the *“Fear of the LORD”*. From today’s verse, it is clear that God showers His mercy on those who fear Him, they receive the favor of God, and we can also infer that those who do not fear God, will not be the recipients of God’s mercy.
Being merciful is the attribute of God. It is by His mercy that we are being saved from the eternal punishment that we deserve. He showed His mercy in sending His Son as our Savior, the atonement of our sins. It is in Christ that our sins are forgiven; because of His compassion, we are not consumed. All who desire the mercy of God must come to Him in humility and fear Him with a reverent heart. They will be filled with good things and be satisfied with the spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
God’s mercies are eternal. They extend from generation to generation. His mercies will be upon our children and children who fear Him and keep His commandments. May the LORD help us to fear God in reverence, seek His Word, and commit our ways to Him in obedience so that we might receive mercy and grace to help in times of need.
