Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. John 6:54
This verse from the Gospel of John is a beacon of hope and renewal for us, followers of Jesus. As disciples, we are offered an extraordinary promise – the gift of eternal life and resurrection.
As believers, we acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Son of God, our Savior, who descended to earth to liberate us from our sins. Through His suffering, demise, and resurrection, we have been bestowed with the ultimate gift of eternal life with God.
In the sacred sacrament of Holy Communion, we partake of the bread and wine, emblems of Jesus’ body and blood. In this act, we are not only reminded of His sacrifice for our salvation but are also brought closer to God. Feeding on His flesh and drinking His blood signifies our deep connection with Jesus, a connection that is both sacred and profound.
This verse reassures us that through our faith and participation in the sacraments, eternal life with God is assured. While our earthly bodies may perish, our souls will be raised on the last day, to dwell forever in His divine presence.
Let us then embrace this promise with hope and confidence. Even amidst trials and doubts, let’s hold steadfast onto the assurance of eternal life, remembering that God is always with us. As John 3:16 reminds us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Let this serve as our guiding light to start our day today, stepping into this world as a mission field proclaiming this divine promise and encouraging ourselves and all we encounter throughout today to live this lives in a service of His people.
May God’s blessings accompany us on our faith journey, and may we always cherish the extraordinary promise of eternal life that awaits us.
