The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

A Life of Trust and Hope

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes. Jeremiah 17:8

This verse discusses the positive outcomes of trusting in the Lord, as stated in the prior verse Jeremiah 17:7: ‘Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord.’

Trust means to firmly believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Hope in the Lord is to have a desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment.

To be like a tree planted by the streams of water is to be one who has a regular supply of nourishment and refreshment. Water is the ultimate source of life for a tree. Hence to be planted by the water is to have a regular supply of life. This kind of tree need not fear the drought or heat. A man who trusts and hopes in the Lord shall be like a flourishing tree.

Have a Blessed Day!
