I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked – Jeremiah 15:21
The prophet’s suffering is most visible in the laments of Jeremiah chapter 15. Jeremiah pleads with God to act immediately on his behalf. He is asking God,” why is my pain unending and wound grievous and incurable even after doing everything right? “. He is doubting the goodness of God because he is having enemies both inside (Judah) and outside (Invading army). God asks him to repent (not to utter worthless words) and trust Him. If he repents, He is promising that He will deliver him from hands of the wicked.
We might be lamenting like Jeremiah and afraid of the calamity (worried about covid situation and its impact on economy and livelihood). God is saying “Be still and know that I am God”.
God is our fortress. “Therefore, will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea” – Psalms 46:2. He will surely deliver us.
Prayer: Father God, help us not to lean on our own understanding but instead trust you in all circumstances. In Jesus name I pray – Amen!!!
