Oh give us help…for deliverance by man is in vain. Psalms 108:12
The psalmist began with a promise to look to God and seek Him early in the morning for His help. David saw the weakness of humans and wisely chose to ask God for His help to defeat the enemy. He experienced great strength and understanding as he submitted himself to God and also experienced betrayal from those who once were his close friends or relatives. David saw the difference.
The truth is God can only bring help and lasting victory in our daily battles. When we look to human help, we are disappointed but when we look to God, He gives us victory and blessing. Whatever we face in our lives, we have God’s help to empower us and intercede for us. David also knew that if he put his dependence on people it would cost him dearly. Each time he was betrayed or hated, he turned to God for strength and wisdom. He inquired of the Lord and wanted only God divine intervention because he knew that was the only way for victory.
