Do not love the world nor the things in the world… 1 Jn. 2:15
Earth is the habitation of sojourners. This is not our homeland – for our citizenship belongs to heaven but not of this world. We are rather pilgrims of this world. Therefore we ought not to love the world nor love the works of darkness. The evil conversation, wicked communication, the customs of this world are to be shunned and avoided. We are neither to love the world nor love the wickedness of man.
Though God has blessed us with the riches of this world they are not to be loved inappropriately and abused. Near relations and friends in the world, and the blessings of life, maybe loved and enjoyed in their way, but not above God and Christ. May our eyes be fixed on the things above and not on the things below. May He guide us in a righteous path.
