Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. (Isa. 43:18)
Through His power at work within us, our God is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. In the old testament, the formal deliverance of Israelites were glorious and fascinating. In today’s portion, God is reminding us not to mind the former things because, in comparison to the new and living things, all the former deliverances are mere worth of remembrance.
God always bestows with better blessings. As God promised, He sent His son Jesus as the greatest gift, and in comparison to past Israel’s deliverance (earthly), Our Lord’s deliverance (spiritual) is much better. When compared to this temporary life, God has promised eternal life where there is no more weeping or mourning, for the old order of things will be passed away. Let us all continue to have faith in God so that he bestows us with better blessings daily.
