The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Joy in the Fellowship of God!

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. Psalm 63:6

Psalm 63 was composed by David when he fled into the wilderness of Judah to escape from his enemy. In this wilderness, a person can lack water, food, bed, shelter, and safety, however, David instead of complaining about his physical discomfort, is longing for God and says, ‘My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You’. David’s bed might be a collection of sticks and rocks and would have been very uncomfortable, but he does not complain about the accommodations, rather, he turns his thoughts to God and delights meditating on the Character and faithfulness of God during night watches, because God has been his Help in ages past and his Hope for years to come. Despite the wilderness experience, David rejoices because he chose to dwell in the shadow of the wings of The Almighty. David’s life has been turned upside down. He has gone from luxury to the wilderness; from power to weakness; from respect to dishonor; from safety to danger yet, David joyfully praises the LORD for His Lovingkindness which is better than life.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.
