The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Rejoicing in tribulation

yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. Hab 3:18

Background: Habakkuk (HBK) cries to the  lord about sinfulness of Judah. God tells him, that the judgment is coming thru Chaldeans ,who are much worse than Judah. And as HBK laments, God mentions he will restore Judah eventually. HBK doesn’t necessarily agree with the future turn of events but knows that Gods ways are different from mans and turns to a song of praise to calm himself (Hbk 3:17,18,19)

1)All of us are going through similar events. We hear and see pestilence, famine, and wars all around us.  By sight, No one in any right frame of mind would agree that God is in control. Yet God reminds HBK , as people who know Him, we ought to walk by Faith and not sight. (HBK 2:4) Our Sovereign God is in supreme control.

2)When facing sorrows, we ought to rejoice and look unto God. For HBK, all around him seems to crumble. No food, No Flock , No Olive ,No herd, No vines and so on. And he states, despite all that, he will rejoice in the lord. And finally, after rejoicing, we see his feet are like the deer’s & in high places.
It is important to note, that these High places  come, after we have lost all, and HE becomes our all ; i.e. through great tempest.

Habakkuk means – to embrace / to wrestle. Let us, Embrace our Sovereign God or Wrestle in our faith unto Him – especially in turmoil.
