….He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you… Deut. 31:8
The Israelites found themselves in a season of uncertainty. They allowed fear, complaining, emotions, pride and other things to grab hold of their heart, focus and attention. Their hearts were tested and tried. While this was happening, God was preparing Joshua to lead the Israelites for the next season, the season of breakthrough, conquest, victory and of the Promise to conquer the Promised Land. Moses called Joshua and told him: “And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you.”
What an encouraging promise Moses gave to Joshua and to all Israel. This promise from the Lord is very much applicable for us as Christians in this day and age. The Lord has promised to go before each one of us just as He promised Israel. He is leading us through the wilderness and times of uncertainty. But He has promised to be with us always even to the end of the age. What a comfort to know that He will never fail us nor forsake us.
