Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13
Primarily Abraham is the foremost and familiar character that we would get reminded of, as the friend of God in the Bible. Whereas in the new covenant, Jesus calls us as His friends. John 15:13 is one of the unique verses in the Bible that explains His intimate agape love for us. What a privilege it is to be called His friends though we do not deserve to be treated as such. Because He is Lord and Master, he should call us servants; instead, He calls us friends. How comforting and reassuring to be chosen as Christ's friends.
Jesus made the first choice to love and to die for us, to invite us to live with Him forever. We make the next choice to accept or reject this offer. Without His choice, we would have no choice to make. Have you made that choice? If not, now is the time. If yes, may we enjoy his friendship.
