In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Psa. 56:11
Psalm 56 was apparently written by King David when he was endangered by the Philistines. Instead of panicking he boldly declared that he put His Trust in the Lord.
David was well trained by God from His childhood. Being a shepherd boy, he spent the majority of his time tending the sheep all alone in the far pasture lands. Probably he learned it right there to pray and to depend on the Lord. He friended God, relied on the Lord during His most difficult times like when he had to rescue a sheep from the dangerous animals.
Trusting in the Lord is a journey of baby steps and eventually grows from time to time and from experience to experience in a believer’s life. Learn to spend quality time alone with the Lord as David did. Be sensitive to realize where exactly you need to put your trust in the Lord no matter how insignificant or giant your situation might be. Also, trust is the opposite of fear. When you put your trust in the Lord you will never be afraid. In fact, you would delight in Him. May you have a blessed day!
