The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Faith in GOD

The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him -Ezra 8:22

The context of this chapter is the time when Ezra led some people to visit Jerusalem from Babylon with the approval of King Artaxerxes. Not only the King's approval but also the king granted huge amount of money to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.

Despite the King's offer to provide security for Ezra’s visit, Ezra refuses and says to the king that GOD would take care of those who believe in HIM during their journey to Jerusalem as per today's verse.

Ezra observed fasting at the river of Ahava and praying for GOD’s hand with them for safe passage to Jerusalem. And God got them to Jerusalem safely.

But Ezra could not ask King Artaxerxes for protection. Because it would have been shameful to Ezra to ask for the king’s help as it would suggest that God couldn’t be counted on for protection and no faith on the GOD.

We easily say that God is in charge.  God can do anything.  But will we live that way when opportunities come along for us to back up those beliefs?  Ezra is a wonderful role model.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thanks for this day.  You know what is best for me.  Guide me there, I beg.  Thank You for Ezra’s example of trusting You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
