‘ Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ -Isa 41:10
Today’s verse was spoken by GOD through Isaiah. The context of the verse is the time when Cyrus of Persia had been expanding his empire. He had conquered all the countries to the north and east and was now threatening Babylon. In fact, GOD who was behind the rise of Cyrus the Great—who would come from the east and conquer the wicked Babylonians.
As the armies of Cyrus approach nations, the people were in panic. GOD says to the people of Israel that “You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not rejected you” and today’s verse was mentioned to encourage the people.
It has been mentioned the word “Fear Not” appears in the bible 366 times, one for each day of the year, plus one for leap year. But no matter how many times these words of encouragement appear, let us always remember that they are spoken by the Creator of the Universe. He is the one Who tells His children not to fear, nor to be discouraged, because He is our God and that should be sufficient. We should simply take Him at His word.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that there are many times that fear has replaced faith in my heart, yet why should I fear when You have told me so many times to fear not? Thank You for Your promise to be with me always, to strengthen me, to be with me and to uphold me with Your righteous right hand. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
