God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope – 1 Tim. 1:1
The Biblical definition of faith is “the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen” (Heb 11:1). The meaning of this is that hope's unseen objects become real and substantial. In the same chapter of Heb. 11, we can observe heroes of faith who had hope and believed in God without seeing. Abraham believed in God, and He accounted it to him for righteousness (Gen. 15:6). Not only Abraham, but many mentioned as heroes of faith in this chapter (Abel, Enoch, Noah, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, and Samuel) accounted them as righteous as they believed God.
In today's verse, we observe that our Lord Jesus Christ is our hope. If we believe in Him, He becomes our Savior, and He gives a great gift of salvation. Along with other heroes of faith mentioned in the Bible, you also become a hero of faith if you keep your faith in Jesus. As it is a blessing to those who have not seen, and believe, let us believe in our Lord without seeing so that it is a blessing for us and others!
