For we are God’s fellow workers, you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 1 Cor. 3:9
The church is compared to the field and the building (3:9). Many people work in the field. Paul planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth. It doesn’t matter who planted or watered, but the critical point is how the plant is growing. As it is because of God, we need to give glory to God. However, each will receive their reward according to their labor.
The church is also compared to the building. God is the master builder, and we are His fellow workers. We need to build on the right foundation (Jesus Christ) and with the right material. Everyone’s work will be shown for what it is because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss. By keeping this in mind, let us build with quality and dedication.
As we are the temple of God, and God’s fellow workers, let us continue to maintain the dignity and represent Jesus Christ wherever we are, knowing well that we will receive our reward according to our labor!
