The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Why should we give?

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! 2 Cor. 9:15

In today’s verse, Paul summarizes by comparing the believer’s act of giving with God’s act of giving. God gave His “indescribable gift”, Jesus Christ, as a wonderful act of giving, which could never be matched with what we are giving. God sent His Son and reaped the harvest of believers who trust Jesus Christ, the Savior.

We also need to give to the needs of saints and others as we show Christ’s likeness. Paul reminds us that, He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully (2 Cor 9:6). He also clearly said, as God loves cheerful giver, we need to give without grudging or compulsion, instead, what we decided in our heart to give (2 Cor 9:7). In short, as God’s indescribable is a blessing to humanity, our giving should be a blessing to us and others. As we reap in measure as we sow, I want to remind the below verse of giving.

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” (Mal 3:10)
