The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Hope in God does not disappoint

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5

In the previous verses Paul indicated that Christians could see suffering as a cause for rejoicing. It provides an opportunity to grow into the people that God is calling us to be. He began by showing that suffering produces perseverance to trust God, which produces character to do what honors God which in turn produces hope.

We will see many disappointments, shame or disapproval if we keep our hope in the world, but our hope in God cannot disappoint or deceive us no matter what we face. The gracious gift of hope is secured on the unchangeable and unconditional love of God. It is the love that is constantly being refilled and replenished by the Holy Spirit. The love of God was poured into our hearts by His Spirit in great measure when we first believed and this love remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
