Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Joshua was offered the big project to fulfill after the death of Moses to lead the entire nation of Israel into the promised land. God’s promise served as an important message to strengthen Joshua as the leader of God’s people. Besides giving Joshua the promise not to be afraid and be strong and courageous, in the previous verses God emphasizes Joshua to obey His word and meditate on His word day and night.
God calls us to live courageously and without fear, knowing that God is always with us. Not only that but He also wanted us to meditate on the Word, meditate on the promises of God, to trust in the truth of God's Word and to follow the demands and instructions of God that have been given to us. We are to trust the Lord, believe in His Word, and stand firm in the faith.
