The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

El-Roi, the God who sees

“You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13

Here Egyptian servant Hagar who was bearing Abram’s son faced an unusual situation when she flew from Sarai and learns that God is the one who sees. Hagar recognized that God was speaking to her. After she acknowledged that it was God who appeared to her and spoke with her, she was amazed that she had seen God and yet remained alive. Hagar recognized that the God who saw her is important and that she recognized that God cared for her, a lowly servant girl and that He was watching out for her well-being.

This is an incredible truth that God loves us so much that He even sacrificed Himself for us so we could have eternal life. It is amazing to learn that God cares deeply about us, and He shows His love to us in the most remarkable ways. How encouraging to know that no matter where we are and what situation or position we are in, He is the God who sees us, who loves us, and who wants us to know and trust in Him!
