God is spirit and those who worship him must worship him in truth and spirit – John 4:24
Before I was born again, I followed the patterns of the world. In the religion I came from, we used to follow multiple gods and to worship each god there is a pattern and rituals need to be followed up. Prayer and worship were monotonous – It will be more of one-way communication. There was no real remorse of sins and no real knowledge of God.
The God of the bible has unique characteristics. We can have a relationship with Him. He has given the Holy spirit who prays on our behalf with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Also, the Holy spirit will lead us and guide us in our prayer and worship. When we pray and worship the Lord, we worship in truth and spirit – it is not just chanting of mantras. It is a two-way communication.
Scripture says, for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh – Philippians 3:3. May our worships and intercessory prayer come from our hearts but not from lips.
Prayer: Father God, help us to honor and worship you in truth and spirit. If we have cherished any iniquity in our hearts, please remove it. In Jesus name I pray – Amen!!!
