In Colossians 4th chapter, Paul is speaking about the importance of prayer, a work of clear communication, a matter of wisdom and making the most of each opportunity and idea of kind speech.
In Paul’s time, salt served primarily as a preservative. It was also valuable enough to be used as a form of currency and of course it changes the flavor of whatever it is added to. In that regard, the believers words are to preserve the message of Christ, helping it effectively reach as many people as possible. Whatever we speak should add value to the Conversation with believer’s, our words should uplift believer’s spiritual lives.
“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” Ephesians 4:29
