The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Psalm 46:11
Interestingly today’s verse is a word-to-word repeat of verse 7 of the same psalm. There were 235 instances in the bible that a verse appears more than once. Why repeating? Because God wants us to pay special attention to them, remember them, and reflect on them. Psalm 46 is a psalm of worship, and Verse 7; Verse 11 are the resounding chorus declaring His glory and might.
Today’s verse gives assurance, a verse that will bring joy to the believers amid the trials of this life. The enemy wants to destroy us with worry, anxiety, fear, despair, and discouragement. This verse declares that our God is mighty; our God is a Self-sufficient and self-sustaining God (Yahweh); our God is The LORD of hosts (Jehovah Sabaoth); our God is with us (Immanuel), God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble(v1). If we recognize the power and sovereignty of God in our lives, there will be peace, stability, and order amid the trials of life.
Don’t tell God how big your problem is; tell your problem how big your God is.
Amen.
