Revive me, O LORD, for Your name’s sake!
For Your righteousness’ sake, bring my soul out of trouble.
Psalms 143:11
Psalm 143 is King David’s earnest prayer for deliverance and revival. David says, “For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in darkness, like those who have long been dead (V3). King David is in a distressing situation. David is looking for a revival of his spirit.
David is looking at the correct place. Our God is a God of revival. Whatever the darkest situations we find ourselves in, when we come to God, Jesus can light it up. Jesus can bring us out of trouble not because we are good, deserving, or righteous but because He is Righteous.
David continues saying, “for Your name’s sake! For Your righteousness’ sake” David asks God to revive him not for David’s glory but to glorify God.
When we find ourselves in the darkest situations of life, never forget that Our God is a God of revival. Draw closer to Him, and He can light it up. To God be the Glory. Amen.
