Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Col. 3:2
Last summer, I visited a place called the “valley of the gods” in Mexican Hat of Utah. This area is far from the worldly life, quiet and uncrowded. As this area does not have air and light pollution, we can see the milky way at night. The view of the milky way is spectacular. If you are in this place, you forget the world. On the other hand, if you are in the world where you have a lot of light pollution and air pollution, you can’t see the Milky Way.
This trip reminded me of today’s verse. If we set our minds on the earth, we can not see the things above. Things on the earth have a lot of pollution, like sin, hatred, jealousy, supremacy, evil desire, etc. Instead of getting perfect peace, we will get a perfect mess. But if you set your mind on the things above, you will enjoy higher levels of joy, peace, and love from above. As we are the heir of God and co-heirs of Christ, we don’t want to focus on the temporary things, instead, let us focus on the eternal things.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Phil. 4:8)
