The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

True Worship

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
Psalm 95:6

Across the book of Psalms, we see psalmists mentioning at least nine postures of worship. Today’s devotion has two postures or expressions of worship. Bow down and kneel. Psalmist used these expressions because he wanted to hold back nothing and Worship God with his entire being (Spirit, Soul, and Body). Worship is not limited to a physical posture; it’s a heart’s deal.

John 4:24 says, “…those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The “truth” here is the word of God, and the “Spirit” brings revelation from the word of God. Worship is our response to that revelation that the Holy Spirit brings to us from the Word of God. If there is no Word in our lives, it’s not worship. Word initiated Worship is how we experience God’s true presence and power in our lives.

Today being Lord’s Day, as we gather together to worship our Lord corporately, May the Lord help us to worship Him in spirit and truth. Amen.
