Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name. 1 Chr. 29:13
The book of 1 Chronicles describes the events leading up to the building of the Temple in Jerusalem. This period in Israel’s history was one of great time of prosperity. King David had gathered large amounts of wealth, resources, and manpower to build the Temple as a symbol of the nation’s religious and political unity. I want to remind one of God’s names, Jehovah Jirah, God the provider. He provided everything to the Israelites.
Several people in this world forget the source of the blessing once they get money, prosperity, and fame. But king David was not like them. In 1 Chr 29, he gathered his people, praised God, and acknowledged that God alone is the source of their strength, power, wealth, and resources. He wanted to humble and exalt God by recognizing that God alone provided everything.
Like David, let us bless the LORD and forget not all His benefits and His glorious name.
