You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin.. Ps 85:2
David was not only interested in the land, but more importantly in his relationship with God. The iniquity that once hindered relationships was now taken away. The idea was so important and precious to the psalmist that he repeated it in different words according to the style of Hebrew poetry.
In the book of Psalms, David uses two significant words for a pardon they are Forgiven and covered. Sin is regarded as a weight pressing down the nation, which God’s mercy lifts off and takes away. Psalmists understand the condition of the people of that day that they are living far from God, Only God can rescue from their situation and deliver them from “All of It”, every spot and wrinkle. But today you and me are assured of the wondrous work on cross done by Jesus, that HIS precious blood washes and covers us from all sin.
